In Silverton, Oregon

Click the link above to see weather in Silverton when you are looking at this - right now is 67 degrees.
We drove from Florence on the coast to here, just northeast of Salem, on Sunday.  An easy 145 mile drive and traffic was light since we were here shortly after noon.  We were on I 5 for a short bit and there was a lot of traffic there, but it moved well.

George, the guy on our GPS, had us completely skirt Eugene to the west and north through some very nice country side.  Saw lots of farms, wheat in windrows and one place a combine was picking up the windrows.  We stopped at this nice fruit/vegetable place just about noon.  Got fresh blueberries, apricots, pickled olive mix for salads, and other stuff I can't remember.

They had a line of seasonings with a rather unusual name.

Notice the load of hay going down the road just past this sign for potatoes.  (we did get a bag of potatoes).  There was a lot of hay fields in the area and several seed companies for grasses, etc.

Monday we went on a guided tour of Oregon's capitol building which our guide made very interesting and informational.
Both chambers were in session, finishing up this year and they finished for the year in the afternoon.

Phyllis caught these flowers on our walk from the capitol.  Can't remember their name, but she said they were much larger than some she had planted on our place in the country near Clarinda.

In the afternoon we toured a very interesting set of buildings that had been moved in near a woolen mill and all is now a museum.
We are heading out now, as I write this, so will write about that later.  Think we are going to Mt. Angel.
