Bad storm--but not for us.

Took everything apart on large Picture Window in bedroom to refinish the wood at bottom between the glass.  Used a Tongue Oil and it is in good shape
now.  Had to re-glue some of the wood pieces.

Inner windows ready for cleaning before re-installing

Lots of wind and 3" of rain along with hail Tuesday night.  Electricity out about 4 hours.  We had lots of

leaves beaten out of the trees, but no hail damage to house.  Had truck in shop and car in garage, so were under roof -- and Travel Trailer is under roof in storage.

Had lots of leaves off trees, and lots of smaller branches down.

One large branch from neighbor's tree to the east, which I cleaned up for her.  Though we didn't have hail damage here, many people in town lost windows, lots of vinyl siding, and some roofs damaged by the hail.

We had watched water run over edge of long eaves-trough when it was raining.  Was not plugged, other than at corner with leaves on top of screen, just too much rain too fast.

Got the Redwood swing bench finished and set on
the deck.

While we were eating outside Wednesday evening we watched this bird stand by the Grape Jelly for maybe 3 or 4 minutes studying everything.  He finally took one bite, or dip of the bill, and took off.

Been working on re-using the bench top that I had gotten probably 6 or 7 years ago out on Highway 2 with the pallets that I was burning in our outdoor furnace.  Mounted it to large pallet on heavy wheels.

Am adding a trough to the back since top was narrower than the pallet.  Think will put couple shelves below it for storing smaller things.  The back wall of this area is an abandoned counter top I have had on hand for about 15 years.  Knew I would find a use for it.

Mowed the lawn today, both to shorten it some as

we will be gone tomorrow morning through Monday evening, and to chop up some of the zillions of leaves and twigs on the lawn.  Several bunches of Cottonwood Seeds are strewn around the yard.  If quit mowing could have a Cottonwood Forest.  There are no Cottonwoods for miles, but it was a heck of a wind.

On 3 or 4 different occasions I have been painting the inside walls of the attached garage.  Had found
many partial cans of paint in the basement -- some hardened and worthless, but took all the water-based paint that was on hand and mixed them together.  Came up with a light brown, but after covering first part of wall was told it wasn't light enough so bought 1 quart of brightest white that Easters True Value had on hand.  With it added, it is light enough -- and ended up with about two gallons.  If have enough, by the time I get around all four walls, including quite a few shelves covering two of the walls, will recover the very first part that is a little dark.

Taking off in the morning and headed east.  Will tour Iowa State Capitol in Des Moines, then go on to West Branch, Iowa, where we will go through Herbert Hoover Presidential Library & Museum  (click link).  Spend the evening and then the weekend with son Cameron and wife Patty in Marengo.  Think both granddaughters will there sometime during the weekend.  Forecasting storms here sometime over the weekend, so have put the Ford in the shop (in case of more hail).
