More rain

La Feria, TX 69 degrees - raining.  Storms predicted later in the afternoon/evening.  We even had lightning and thunder this morning.  This is something that very seldom happens here in the Rio Grande Valley; I don't know why.  It is common in the Midwest, but not down here.

We did have some bright sunshine Sunday and a bit yesterday.  Picture at left was taken when I was sitting in the sunshine at a restaurant in Santa Rosa, just north of La Feria, with friends from the park.

 We had brunch following church services at the rec hall here in Kenwood.

Monday was the monthly park association business meeting.  Phyllis was elected treasurer for the next year.

           Yesterday, with the dry day, I finally put up the
            new screening on the north end of the deck.










Will report on the foul weather predicted for this evening.

Still a bit nasty for Rio Grande Valley

50 degrees, rain and heavy clouds.

Been a bit dreary the first week of the year.

Last Sunday Rev. Baker, his wife (at piano) and her sister provided special music during the morning service.

                      On New Years Eve we
                      were at Bob & Bobbi's
                      for eats and some Pegs
                      and Jokers games.

 On New Years Day I got new shelf installed above the washer and dryer.

                         I transplanted this cactus from the                                   roof of a neighbor's carport.

Dreary day

43 degrees, light rain, miserable day.
      To be cold and wet until first of week.  Good day to not be outside.  Did one 1.2 mile lap around park on recumbent trike and was chilled to the bone even though had on hooded winter parka coat.

Rio Grande Valley, TX  44 degrees raining.  Has been raining and cold since early in the night.
An inside day.  Will venture up to hall for a pot luck supper in a bit.

LaFeria, TX 64 degrees - light rain.

      Lots of blogs are touting a Happy New Year --- I am not going to do that.  Lots of damned fools shooting off fire works last night.  People bitch about having no money, but they spend money on fireworks.  Damn fools!

  Was at neighbors last night where we ate too much - played some games.

Christmas Day at Kenwood

La Feria, TX 53º

       Yesterday was good weather at the park.  Rec Hall Christmas Dinner was at 12:30 pm.

Somewhere around 150 people attended.

Many brought their place settings in the morning and personalized areas.  This is Earl at place where six of us gathered for dinner.

Bill Winslow was at his first outing since having knee replaced only 8 days before.

Though this is a centerpiece of friends next to us, the snowman is laying back like he had a full stomach like we did after the ham/turkey with mashed potatoes, gravy and stuffing was served along with all the pot luck dishes and deserts.

As we walked back to our house after dinner I took this photo of the flowers in front of our unit.  It was about 78 degrees.  The cold front came in through the night and this morning it was 40 degrees with a stiff wind.

Merry Christmas

La Feria, TX  High 82º - low 70º

      Not much to report for the last week.  Been going to morning exercise, riding the recumbent trikes, eating out with friends, playing dominoes or pegs & jokers in the evenings, working on various projects

around the house.       .

 A short Christmas Eve program at the Rec Hall tonight and a Christmas Dinner at the Rec Hall tomorrow at 12:30 pm.
