Touring Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada

Clarinda, IA - 77º and still dry.

I finally uploaded another Picasa Album - Touring Fredericton, New Brunswick
and have fine-tuned a lot of the photos in the other albums.

Still have more to send up.  Some people, you just can't hurry!

Attended a Memorial Service in College Springs, IA for relative of Phyllis' this Tuesday.

Went to Shenandoah that evening with Leland & Bonnie Brown and Roberta Rarick to a sandwich at Subway and then a concert by quite a pianist.  Don't recall his name, but here is his picture
On Wednesday evening after choir practice we had some goodies provided by our choir director in honor of her birthday this week

Yesterday discovered that one piece of aluminum on one end gable was loose, so spent some time laying on the roof and reaching over, re-fastening it in place.

Last evening went to local Circle 8 Square Dance where Jerry Junck from Madison, NE was the caller.

Must get cleaned up to head out to "Thursday Night Supper Bunch".

Few more Canada trip photos

Clarinda, IA 72º Nice day - watered some more on the areas that I scattered some grass seed.  Not seeing much results, but maybe someday.

Photos of Prince Edward Island 2012    Here are some photos I have sorted and labeled -- at least have labeled most of them, will keep working on them.

License plates seen on Canada trip   Some of these are doubles, but photographed different license plates as I saw them in the parking lots and while we were traveling.

Have put some more photos on my Picasa web site.  Just click on the links.

Maybe some more photos will appear as I get a chance.  Maine, Vermont State Fair, New York State, Niagara Falls and more sites on way home.

Last week or so have been working some around yard.  Trimmed down bushes getting a little too tall on the west side of our house.
First weekend after we returned from bus trip we hosted Phyllis' cousin Stan Kuelman and his wife Jo.  Stan grew up in the house in the country we moved from a couple years ago after living there 38 years.  They were attending a Clarinda High School Class Reunion of class of 1952 for the weekend.

I have started to remove and raise the single row of bricks that we laid 3 years ago by the curved driveway that goes from main driveway the shop.  They had sunk from the driving over when backing in the travel trailer and decided while raising them up would add an additional row to make driveway a little wider.
Saw these quilt patterns on a garage here in Clarinda one day when we were riding the recumbent trikes.
Gave the back deck it's yearly coating of water sealant.  Had removed each of the boards last summer and turned them over, giving 3 coats to the new top and 2 the the new bottom.  The weather this last year took something out of them, though and they sure soaked up the new coat.
Last Wednesday, at our first of the season Square Dance, had guests of 4 student nurses from Japan who were touring the area.  They got a kick out of the square dance, and caller Mike Hogan - from Omaha - got them and their chaperones up for a basic lesson in square dancing.
Have been able to go to our regular "Thursday Night Supper" bunch at J's Pizza lately.  At left is Jim Book, Janice & Bill Francis, Jackie Hendricks, and Millie Jensen
At left is Roberta Rarick, Harold Book and Jim Book.
Phyllis worked several days last week at the "Flea Market" in the basement of the First United Methodist Church.  Looked like a lot of junk to me, but guess they took many hundreds of dollars.  This is photo of the boxes of the stuff that didn't sell and was being donated to several places.
Last week I spread dry fertilizer on the lawn, and spread grass seed on the areas browned out.  Then covered all of it with a solution of liquid lawn fertilizer, soap, and ammonia.  Will have to make another application over the browned area to help get the thatch to break up.  It is a Jerry Baker recipe including beer, Coca Cola, soap, ammonia, and apple juice.

Left shows some of the many crabgrass plants I have pulled.

Yesterday had to take Phyllis' vacuum cleaner apart when it quit running.  Finally found a "one-time" fuse in-line that had burned out.  I hot-wired around it.  Hope it runs for a little while.

If there is a next time, till then, Lynn

I write this on Sunday September 9th.  Cousin of Phyllis Les and Jo Kuhlman just left to go back home to Sterling, CO.  They came Friday and attended several get togethers of Les's 1952 Clarinda High School class reunion.  We ate at the local Runza restaurant yesterday noon and this morning had quiche  late morning breakfast before they headed out.

Home from 17 day bus tour to Prince Edward Island

Clarinda - Got off the bus last Tuesday.  Have lots of memorabilia from the trip.  Have to sort through some 3,500 photos and 2 dozen movies I took as well as make a log of the places we ate and read the various pieces of literature we returned with.

I read a lot of other people's blogs and know it takes several hours to put one together when you do it each day.  With the picture sorting, cropping, checking facts, etc., it gets to be a chore I can do without for a while.

Lynn & Phyllis at IHOP the last night out.
