August

Clarinda, IA 79º sunny with light wind.  Just got back from 8 mile ride on the recumbent trikes.   Was nice when we were either going into the breeze or beside it.

Friday we drove about 5 miles west of town and picked up our travel trailer that had been stored under roof at an old neighbors of ours - Jim & Evelyn Whipple.  Here it is parked in their driveway while we went up on the porch and visited with them.

Jim has very poor eyesight, but sits on the front porch when weather permits, and waves at people on Highway 2 -- especially the motorcycles, he says.  Think that is because he can hear them with their different motor noise.

Have parked the travel trailer where it has all it's wheels on cement, though 2 of the Ford's are on grass.  Will roll forward or back about a foot every couple days to keep from killing the grass.  We will take off next Saturday morning with it to go to State Center, IA where we will attend the Kenwood RV Park 2014 Summer Rally Aug. 12, 13, 14, 15.

While riding the trikes couple mornings ago we rode near the water tower and saw the turkey buzzards were parked in the shade.

On Thursday we drove to Omaha for some shopping and a 2-year checkup on Phyllis' knee surgery.  We met Joe and Joan Jensen for lunch at Don & Millie's Restaurant.  They live near Gretna and spend several months each year in our Kenwood RV Park.

Stocked up on some groceries at Aldie's in Council Bluffs.

When we eat inside (Any good days we eat on the deck) we are always watching slide shows of our trip our trip through the west last summer.

Have progressed with some of the work in the shop.  This corner was just metal with wood framing a few weeks ago.  Have put up studs, insulated, covered with plastic and covered with recycled wood.  Now have hangers for most all of the things that had been piled in the corner previously, but now can get to them as I need.  I also wired in an outlet by the door and a light that is controlled by a wall switch.  It was a 3-wire, plus ground, wire so have the extra (red) wired with the ground and neutral through this wall and will have a separately breaker-ed outlet by the west window.

Got a little over .30 inch of rain a couple nights ago and last night had a lot of lightning and thunder with a slow rain and Phyllis reported .25 inch of rain overnight.

Yard is keeping green.

More later.  Lynn
