In Texas! (for next 5 months)

Dateline Canton, TX   Could not get good WIFI last night in McAlister, OK so did not post.  We called our friends Earnest and Evelyn Baker at Kingston, OK on Wednesday and met then them at Subway in Durant, OK and had a good visit over lunch, then followed them to their place southwest of Kingston.  They really have a nice place there in a real nice, quiet community.  They will be down to Kenwood RV Resort late December.  Earnest is a retired pastor and is kind enough to handle the pastoral duties each Sunday during the winter at the Rec Hall at Kenwood.  We got to see a lot of country in eastern Oklahoma that we hadn't traveled before.  We spent today walking part of the grounds at First Monday Trading Days here in Canton.  Lots of people to watch and lots of things for sale.  Phyllis bought a set of plant stands allowing multiple levels of potted plants.  I bought a loaded baked potato we shared for lunch and later sprung for a big box of popcorn.  Though my purchases were consumables and are already gone, I thought I made a good deal.  The First Monday Trading Days grounds covers well over 100 acres and there were lots of people and lots of displays, both permanent inside and outside as well as lots of temporary displays.  Here is an interesting cowboy rocking chair.  Left click picture to enlarge.

Speaking of gasoline..........we filled up yesterday for $3.20 and had seen prices as high as $3.42 before we got gas.  Figured the MPG since we left home and was a bit disappointed with 22 MPG compared to 27-28 we had been getting without pulling the trailer.  Then compared it to the 10 MPG we got with the Excursion pulling our travel trailer and decided it wasn't too bad, especially considering the diesel for the Ford is still running around $3.78 per gallon.  Oh well...............everything is relative, I guess.
Was pretty chilly here today with strong wind blowing, though by late afternoon in the sunshine out of the breeze was nice.  Is to be 37 degrees here in the morning.
Till later, Lynn
