Home in Clarinda - Catching up with some photos of trip

Arrived home shortly after noon on Sunday.  Had stopped for a break in Creston, IA and ate some sandwiches.

Barbequing some kabobs on our propane grill at the trailer near Raymond, OH.

We were a few feet from a small lake that had 7 to 9 geese and several ducks parading around every day.  We stayed at this park 6 days.

Daughter, Michelle, came to the trailer several times and enjoyed a meal with us.

Little out of order here, but this is Ralph Snyder coming in to his dining room

Phyllis & Jean Snyder looking at some things in the Snyder's living room.

Realizing I had not gotten a good photo of the two of them together, I took this of Jean's Facebook page from late in 2012.  They are both still doing fine.  Ralph either is or will be 97 years old and they still spend the summers at the farm house they have been in for over 40 years.  They will head to Kenwood to their mobile home there in a month or so.

This is in front of Michelle's apartment.  Her landlady is continuing to finish the area over the 3-car garage.  Michelle just moved there in July of this year.

This photo shows more of the garage and area above.  It is rural and with lots of trees on the acreage.

Much moving around of furniture, including several items carried up from the one storage garage unit.  I don't know at what stage of arranging this was.  Don't think it was final stage.
One corner is being made into a mini-kitchen with micro-wave and induction-hotplate and refrigerator.  She shares use of the kitchen in the mane house with the landlady.

Landlady was on a trip to the Upper Peninsula during the week we were there and a few meals were prepared in the kitchen of main house.  Phyllis is plying the pancake turner here.

Last evening we were at Michelle's we ate out at a nice Mexican Restaurant - weather was good and we ate at the outdoor area.

After leaving Raymond, OH we stopped near Marion, IN and spent one night parked at Harold & Imogene Williams place.  They had all sorts of apples and pears maturing and falling from the trees.  They gave us all we wanted of both.

On "patio area" of garage just north of their house.

Imogene and Phyllis driving from the back seat as we did some touring of local area and ended up in Marion.

Harold & Imogene, waiting for food at Fazollies in Marion.

After enjoying our brief visit with Harold & Imogene and staying the one night, we drove something over 400 miles (mostly Interstate) to Marengo, IA.  Parked the trailer at Sudbery Motel & RV.  On Thursday we drove south to Ottumwa, IA where youngest  granddaughter is in College.  Went out to lunch with her and her boyfriend Vince.

Emily is studying a lot in the advertizing area, including web page designing and lots of computer work.  She is an excellent artist and, hopefully, this will help in her work after graduating from Indian Hills Community College there in Ottumwa next May.

After eating some excellent barbequed salmon and chicken at son Cameron's we did some Bocci Ball.

Ashley & Heath

At right - Patty, Ashley, Cam, Heath with Pepper, the dog, supervising all.

Heading on west, we stopped in State Center, IA and spent some time with Lola Schoppe.  Dennis Arment came over from Marshaltown and the four of us visited over lunch.  Here Lola is showing Phyllis some sewing stuff.

We drove down to the building where the summer get-to-gather is held each summer and Lola and Dennis showed us the cross with names of past residents of Kenwood who have passed on are noted.  This was just made this summer and presented at the August Rally that we missed as we were still in Montana at the time.  For some reason I did not get a photo of Dennis while he was with us.

We drove on to near Boone, IA where Bill & Twyla Oberholzer have their 5th-wheel set up near Twyla's mother's house.  We set up near their unit and on Friday evening we drove to a nearby County Park where many of their friends were set up for the weekend.  Hamburgers were grilled, 3 dozen ears of corn were boiled in what you normally think of a Turkey fryer over a propane flame.  Terrific meal.  In this photo Twyla is visiting with her dear friend Char.

Phyllis and Bill taking in the conversation

Another friend (forgot his name) visiting.  Quite interesting gentlemen visited about some of his life experiences.

Bill and Rabbit enjoying the meal.  Rabbit is his last name.

Rabbit & Mrs. Rabbit (Char)  At right of photo, Phyllis is talking with her hands.

After our supper many friends of Bill & Twyla gathered around a fire.  Here it looks like Twyla and Phyllis are really believing whatever line Bill is giving them!

A few of the others.  As it got closer to dark many more people arrived and joined in until well after dark.  I'm not sure all the tales told were true, but interesting evening.

Having trouble uploading photos, so will sign off and try more later.  Some drizzling weather here in Clarinda this morning.  Click the "Click HERE for weather where we are" at the top of this page to see complete weather.

Later, Lynn
