Clarinda, IA - One inch of rain this morning.
Some pictures taken yesterday. I have no idea what kind of tree this is just west of the house (above) or the flowers at right and below right.
Left and below: We went to KMA Radio open house in Shenandoah showing off the complete remodeling of their broadcasting studios and offices.
Dean Adkins is on the air (seated at left) interviewing several people.
Dean Adkins showing Phyllis picture of his family; wife and three girls. We have been friends with Dean for several years.
Phyllis seated at table where she just went through quick lesson on driving the small Singer Sewing machine in front of her. She will keep it in the trailer when we are traveling.
Last night we took Marcene VonDielingen and Jim & Evelyn Whipple to Coin to the Fire Department Fish Fry Fundraiser. At left is Evelyn and at next table just getting up are Sheldon and Opal Jones who were customers of ours at Coin Grain elevator back in the 1970's and 80's.
Jim Whipple at end of our table
Darrell Murphy visits with Marcene VonDielingen; behind Darrell Phyllis visits with Fran Murphy. Darrell has had our vehicle insurance since the 1970's and was a farmer customer of ours at the elevator between 1974 and 1994 when we operated it.
In scanning old photos I found this composite of several pictures pasted together (Had no wide-angle lens then) of Clarinda Elevator probably taken around 1972. I worked there from 1972 to 1974.
We are in a tornado watch area and have watched tornado strike west of Lincoln, NE on TV. Hoping for best later. Lynn

Some more old photos
Clarinda, IA 90something degrees yesterday, think it set a record here in Clarinda. Cooler today with possibility of rain - heavy overcast at 11 am.
Did some more copying of printed photos. These are in March of 1995. This is Lynn & Phyllis with Vicki & Don Miles at their house in Illinois across from Cape Girardeau, MO. We had visited them and then flew out of St. Louis, MO down to Miami, FL
Don with their dogs.
Don and Vicki with Vicki's mother.
Eating out one evening in March of 1995 in Miami. Lin, Darrell, Jonathan, Phyllis
Standing behind Lin & Darrell's house in Miami. Darrell, JT, and Lynn
Checking out the flowers in the back yard.
Jonathan (JT) enjoying a ride in the car.
JT enjoying testing out the firmness of the bed.
Phyllis & myself standing by "The Southernmost Point of the Continental U.S.A - Key West, FL
Getting on plane in Miami, heading back to St. Louis.
At right is my latest project--mounted towel rack by my sink in the main bathroom. Because of placement of studs, I put it on a board which is anchored on both ends into studs. The wood comes fairly close to matching other wood - notice under the mirror.
Will do some more scanning of old pictures as have time.
If you want to see this month - May - photos click Lynn's Picasa 2014 May and take a peek. I will put the older photos on Picasa after I get quite a few posted.

Clarinda, IA -- Doing some searching through old printed photos. Hard to imagine we used to actually print the photos--now putting on the computer, where they belong!

At right, Vicki Miles in the back with head nodding; Louise Lassen with back to camera at left; Don Miles and Karen Miles across table, Phyllis Miles with back to camera nearest.

This group on the right went on the Nimitz ship tour: Louis & Anne Lassen, Don & Vicki Miles, Brian and Judy Miles, Brian's son Rick and his mom Mardi Biedermann. Rick is holding his daughter Kashmire.
Cousins & Aunt Wilma: Barb Balc, Wilma, Lynn & Phyllis Miles and Karen & Kent Miles
We "adopted" Rick & Patty Stickelberg for the week so the could be cousins, too. We are at right.
Brian Miles & two of Brian and Mardi's boys Tom and Rick. Tom's son Zach and Tom, then Rick holding Kashmire and Aunt Wilma with the cap; Mom Mardi Biedermann on the right.
At left is Rick holding Kashmire, Brian, Judy, Tom with Zach in front, and Mardi.es.
Cousin Brian had been in the Navy and two of his boys Rick and Tom were in the navy at the time this picture was taken.
Several of us went on a harbor cruise.
Cameron Miles (Kent & Karen's grandson) is in front. Left to right - Rosemarie and Jerry Koch, Louise Lassen, Karen & Kent Miles, Phyllis & Lynn Miles and Pat & Rick Steckelberg.
I haven't found the photo that we posed outside Kent & Karen's house as a group.
To be copying and adding more photos .

May is here!
Clarinda, IA Weather of upper 40's overnight to in the mid 70's during the day. Bright sunshine today.
Yesterday I got the lawn mowed for second time and then spread weed-n-feed on all of it. Did the daily walk popping Dandelions out of the ground.
Thursday we drove to Atlantic, IA and got rid of several pounds of copper/aluminum/iron at the salvage yard. Then drove on US 6 on west to Council Bluffs; resupplied at Sam's Club, Walmart, Aldi's and Office Max. Caught a Subway sandwich at Walmart and drove from CB to Villisca, IA where we picked up Oliver & Mary Jo Herzberg and went to TJ's, their local restaurant that has fish fries most of the fall, winter, and spring on Thursday evenings. Photo at right shows Oliver and his brother Jerald and wife Judy who came in as we were eating.
At right is Judy, Phyllis & MJ (wishing I would put the camera down) Really good fish! and they said the chicken was good, too.
After eating we went back to Oli's and MJ's to play Hand & Foot. Their granddaughter & husband, along with great granddaughter stopped in with May Baskets. (It was May Day, after all) Oliver enjoyed pushing the granddaughter around the kitchen on the chair which had wheels under it. (Wish I could remember ggdaughter's name)
Do you think she was enjoying it?
Last evening Al Ruhde and Pat Steckelberg came to our place from Shenandoah and then we picked up Jack and Karen Baumgartner and went to Creston, IA. Their Square Dance Club was celebrating 50 years of dancing and had a pretty good crowd show up.
More next time, Lynn

Still wet
Clarinda, IA - Not complaining, just the facts--still wet. Dumped only .2" from rain gauge yesterday afternoon and .05 this morning. Damp is the word.
With the temperature only 39 degrees this morning and it didn't get out of the 40's yesterday, it has been a bit cool. As a comparison, it is now 65 degrees at our house in south Texas and predicted to get to 82 degrees today. Forecast here is high of 51 degrees today. At left are photos of the Lilac budding, just ready to pop.
Phyllis got bird feeders set out and they have been working on them. Several birds showed up, but not able to catch any on camera just yet.
Lit the BBQ Grill in the cold last evening and did some Texas 1015 (sweet) onions with some pork.
Some irons Phyllis isn't currently using to press clothes; she set them out on the banister of the back deck.
At right shows the electric insulators Phyllis dug out of our shop/storage building and used to decorate one of the smaller benches on the deck.
I am in process of moving several LP Albums to computer and then CD's. Brought two albums home from Kenwood house. Don't remember where I picked them up, but they are delightful. One album is "Tony Mottola in Romantic Guitars" presented by The Longines Symphonette Society. The other is "Somewhere My Love - and other Romantic Movie Melodies" by The Longines Symphonette Society. Between the two will have something over 6 hours of soothing music that can listen in car, or on the Boze player in the house. As MP3 files all 12 LP's will fit on 1 CD's. I have to use WAV files for use in the Excursion and can get only 2 LPs per CD in that form.
We are planning on going to Omaha tomorrow; will go by Atlantic to the salvage yard to drop off some iron, aluminum, and copper I have accumulated over the last couple years. Need the space in the shop.
