Rain in Rio Grande Valley

La Feria, TX - 65º and raining.  Has rained since early last evening, just a slow steady drizzle.
Wet - looking west off front steps.

Wet - looking south off front steps.

Wet - looking north from end of "Texas Room"
We haven't heard the noise of either the air conditioner or the furnace since we got here at our winter home in Kenwood RV Park in La Feria, Texas

Even still had the windows open last night, at least a couple that didn't have any rain blowing in them.

Just checked the rain gauge that I have on the post to the left of this photo and we have about a half-inch of rain.  It has come real slow and would be good for crops, if you had any crops growing.  Still marveling at how much this cactus grew over summer - added about three feet to it's height.

"Barber" Phyllis harvesting hair

Quilt on frame

Phyllis was tired of looking at long, white hair so this morning - after a late breakfast - she
went to work and shortened it!

Phyllis put a quilt on to her quilting frame and has been working on it.

Photos on end of kitchen counter.
These pictures are on the end of the kitchen counter.  Top one is of Beth & Steve Gregory (Phyllis' sister) and Phyllis & Lynn Miles - this was probably taken in Grand Lake, Colorado in summer of 2011.         The bottom photo was taken in April of 2008 - All my brothers and sister; Roger Miles from Lincoln, NE; Lynn Miles from Clarinda, Iowa; Donald Miles from Cape Girardeau, Missouri; Darrell Miles from Miami, Florida; and our sister Louise, Miles from Clarinda, Iowa.  This was at Angie Miles Alexander's wedding in Lincoln, Nebraska.  Louise passed away about a month later.

With the rain lasting all day we really haven't left the house; I have done work in the shop area of the "Texas Room" -- it is really nice being able to work out of the house and not have the cold wind and rain blowing at you like it was before we built the addition last year.

Will sign off - more later, Lynn
