Gladys Porter Zoo in Brownsville, TX

La Feria, TX  59º - forecast to be 37º tomorrow morning!

Click on any photos to enlarge.

Last Sunday, after church at the Rec Hall, we went with Winslow's and their granddaughter Courtney to eat at IHOP in Harlingen and then drove south-east to Brownsville, Texas to the Gladys Porter Zoo - Click Here

These Flamingos where brightly colored.

We caught the last tram ride of the day where we got an over-all picture of the park to walk back to later.  This ride was free that day, not sure if it was because of the cold or what.  As you can see by the coats, it was a cold day; not only for us, but many of the larger animals who had a choice of being outside or inside kept to the inside for some warmth.

Someone took a lot of time to paint the stripes on these donkeys!

One-hump Camels

Courtney, feeding a young camel.

          Time for sleeping.

Peacock thought it was too cool to be up strutting his feathers -- trying to keep warm.

Couldn't get much more of a stately photo of a lion.

Snake having a mouse lunch.

Think "Steve" Irwin (22 February 1962 – 4 September 2006), nicknamed "The Crocodile Hunter", was killed when stung by something similar to this guy.

Coral reefs

Courtney - with her grandparents - feeding the giraffes.

Note the smaller baby rhino at the far left of picture.  This "little" tyke got to running back and forth, either entertaining us or simply feeling his oats.

Someone's long-lost relative?

Bit chilly, but enjoyable afternoon with the Winslows.  We returned to Kenwood early enough that Phyllis & I helped serving the ice cream at 6:00 pm.
Yesterday was finally a day with sunshine.  Park was busy with craft show at 8 to 12 and lunch being served, then Bluegrass Jam 1:30 to 4 in the afternoon.

We have pot luck supper at hall this evening.
Cool weather to move in again and be the coldest of this season Thursday on to the weekend with drizzly showers.  Courtney returns to Michigan to Nursing school today and Darlene, her grandmother will be flying with her as Darlene's sister passed away yesterday so she will be with family until early next week when she flies back down to Harlingen.

Have started the Picasa Album for 2015 January - CLICK HERE   if you want see all the Zoo Photos I took and there will be more photos later this month of our happenings.
 More later, Lynn
