Saturday

La Feria, TX 71º at 9:00 pm
Had a delightful day today with Carl & Marti.  Left Kenwood about 9:00 am and headed to Progreso, Tamaulipas, Mexico.  Parked and walked across the bridge, picked up some medications at American Pharmacy (including some of the new inject-able diabetes medication I started about a month ago and haven't found out whether the insurance will cover the highest dosage that my doctor wanted me to go up to about a week ago).  This will insure we get up the road a ways and if we have any trouble with the insurance can have an extra 10 day supply.

I got my ears lowered while Marti & Phyllis shopped and then we all went to Irene's for rolls and coffee.  After some more shopping we headed north, stopping at Phyllis' aunt's nursing home in Pharr to find she had been taken to the hospital yesterday.
We went to the hospital in McAllen  and found her--she is having some heart congestion and some mental confusion.  Visited for a while.

and then headed to Costco where I bought a new Android Motorola smart phone and Jetpack hotspot.  We are going to give up our Magic Jack connection through the internet so won't need cable down here or at Clarinda for that.  Will use the Verizon phone connection for our internet, and will have the advantage (if we can get the darn thing all figured out) of having connection with the net and GPS as we are driving down the road as long as we have cell service.  Know in the Big Bend area that won't be the case.  When the paper work is done our current home phone number in Clarinda will be on this phone and anyone calling from Clarinda will still be a local call to them.

Leaving Costco we drove towards Edinburg, stopping at Rudy's Barbeque to eat a good late (3:15 pm) lunch.  From there we drove north and west to a Valero station I had found on line to buy Diesel fuel for $3.699.  We had driven by a few stations at $3.779 and one at $3.999!   Got to see some new territory in that area, especially for Carl & Marti and headed down 281 and east on Expressway 83 to La Feria.  Long day, but enjoyable.  Didn't find out until we were nearly home that today is Marti's birthday and she said she enjoyed the outing.  Happy Birthday again, Marti.

Tomorrow we will go over to see Char and Jim Bernathy's new place in Stuart Place, and continue getting things cleaned up here in our house and stuff put in the trailer.  I finally got around yesterday to putting some baby powder on all the rubber sleeves and gaskets around the slide-out on the travel trailer.  That had been recommended as a help to keep the rubber soft.  Also put it on all the door gaskets on the Excursion.  Don't know if this will help or not.

Til later, Lynn
