Rain, Rain, and Rain

Clarinda, IA 50º and sunshine -- think it is first sunshine in couple days.  Phyllis dumped 1.5" rain out of the gauge; it had been slow steady rain since in the night Monday morning.

Last Friday we had visited Granddaughter Ashley and husband Heath in their new house in Marengo.  Nice place.

They were able to keep the curtains that were in the house.

Spotted this in restroom of a Jimmy John's - In German it asks you to sit to pee  !

On Saturday we drove to Wilton, Iowa to watch Grandson-in-law Heath have the Marengo Iowa Valley Tiger marching band compete in field marching exercise.  This is his first year as band instructor at that school and they had not marched in any competition for years.

The bass drum player was an 8th grader--not much bigger than his drum.
Band leaving the field.

On Highway 6 west of Marengo.  Welcome (Willkommen!) sign for the Amana Colonies.

On Sunday we went south from Marengo, Iowa to Kirksville, Missouri to see our youngest granddaughter where she just moved to a month or so ago.

At right is a "T-Shirt" quilt that Phyllis had made for Emmy some time ago.

We went for dinner at 1000 Hills State Park Diner, just west of Kirksville.

In car from dinner back to Emmy's place.

Yesterday noon Carolyn and Al Ruhde, from Shenandoah, took us out to lunch at Pizza Hut here in Clarinda and we had visit and home-made ice cream back at our place afterwards.

This year I am trying a cover over the basement window escape area to keep moisture and leaves out of the pit.  Will see how it works as to whether to put it on other winters.

The saga of moving the (heavy) electric organ in to the house.  At right -- Phyllis can't believe we were able to slide it down off the workbench on wheels that we had slid it onto from the back of the truck.

Made it over the electric cable and were half-way to the house!

Well, we have made it up the steps into the entry-way, if we never make it the rest of the way.

Made it to the living room, beside the piano.
Now Phyllis just has to learn what all the buttons are for.

To work on moving tools, books, plants, and other items necessary for life in Texas to the truck and trailer.

More later, Lynn
