Valentine week about over

La Feria, TX 55 degrees - 72 degrees predicted high today.

We went to the Rec Hall Thursday evening for the Valentine's Day supper and program. Photo at right was taken by our resident photographer Patty Steckelberg.  This is one of many she took that "weren't quite right".  It does show our halo's (in form of sabres) over our heads.

Many from "our street" or side of the park sat at one table.

As people gathered.

Pastor Baker and MC Bill Martin.  Pastor Baker gave the blessing and then drew cards from Bill to determine the order of the 5 tables to go through the food line.  We were allowed to go last (and Pastor Baker was sitting at the end of our table so he was the very last to go through the line).

Patty Steckelberg, who has been visiting us for the last three weeks from Shenandoah, Iowa, posing with the Hershey Kisses wrapped to look like roses.

Shades of Grey (Group from Sweet Adaline's)  did men's parts as Barbershop Quartette as part of the program after our supper.

One of our neighbors, Darlene Winslow, did her part of the skit about older honeymoon couple on their wedding night where the wife took off so many things before bed (wig, glass eye, falsies, teeth, leg, etc., etc.) and had her new husband put them on a chair that when she was finally done he decided to spend the evening in the chair "because more of her was there".

Another neighbor, Butch Giesking, played the part of the "new" husband helping his new bride put all here "extras" in the chair before going to bed.

With Darlene all "fixed up" and wearing a CPAP mask they are finally ready for bed, but Butch decides to spend the night in the chair.

Evelyn and Pastor Ernest Leroy Baker at our table.  Many of us at our table had taken the little candy roses and bent the bottoms to make them stand up as if growing.

Phyllis, at left, standing with Ila Mae.  Phyllis did the quilting on this quilt and Ila Mae did the embroidering.

To the right of the photo is Roger and Verla May.  Roger bid top dollar ($350) for the quilt.  All proceeds went to the Care N Share group who make quilts, blankets, infant caps, etc., for various needy groups in the Valley, and some on the Mexican side of the Rio Grande River.

We, Phyllis, Patty, and I, went to the RGV Music Festival in Mercedes yesterday.  They have entertainment all day long on 5 stages.  Good music.  After we left there we went to Ranch House Burgers in Weslaco and had some good hamburgers.
Will post some photos of some of the musicians at the festival next time.
