Southwest Montana

Hard to believe I haven't written since Tuesday.  Did start several times, but either trouble with the computer, or ran out of time, etc.

Have uploaded couple of pictures -- Click HERE for Three Forks to Yellowstone

We moved here to Gardiner, MT just north of Yellowstone National Park on Friday.  We had been couple days at Three Forks, MT (where the Missouri River begins)  We spent time at an ideal Museum in Three Forks then drove around the area where Lewis & Clark came to the upper end of the Missouri River and where the three rivers Jefferson, Madison, and the Gallatin merge.

We drove southwest to Virginia City, MT on Thursday and toured this old gold mining town that now is pretty much a tourist attraction.  Lots of interesting history.  Many of the stores billed themselves as Museums and had items all around the store and around items they had to sell.

About 4 pm our son Cameron with wife Patty, daughters Ashley with husband Heath, and Emily with friend Vince drove in.  They had driven from eastern Iowa, touring western Nebraska, the Black Hills, couple days hiking in Yellowstone Park and were heading to motel in Three Forks after looking at Virginia City.  They didn't have much time, but looked at a couple places as well as driving the mile or so on west to see Nevada City (another old gold mining town).  After trying some ice cream the grandaughters rode with us and we all went back north and east to Three Forks where they checked in at motel and then we enjoyed a meal together.  Though it was a short visit it was nice to see them -- had been last September since we were together.
