Sauk Centre, Minnesota

Check off another state for this trip - Minnesota.  We are at Sinclair Lewis Municipal Campground in Sauk Centre, Minnesota, just 30 some miles south of Browerville, Minnesota where we will visit Doris & Lyle Winter tomorrow.

We drove from Fargo, ND to Watertown, SD on Tuesday and set up the trailer at Stokes-Thomas Lake (City Park) on Lake Kampeska just west of Watertown.  We then drove into Watertown and had supper with Donna & Maynard Weiting at their house.  Donna is a first cousin of mine on Dad's side of the family.

We spent yesterday afternoon at Buffalo Ridge Resort in Gary, South Dakota - south and a little east of Watertown.  This is the sight of the South Dakota School for the Blind up until the 1960's (I believe) when the school was moved to Aberdeen.  A great deal of money has been spent by one individual in renovating the buildings, which had sat empty for many years, and it has multiple uses now.

We toured the buildings after having lunch.  At left is photo of Donna and Lynn

We drove to Sauk Center and stayed the night, then drove to Browerville, MN and north of town a ways to Doris & Lyle Winters place.  Had lunch at their house and then they drove us around the area showing the farms, trees, Amish, etc.  In the evening we drove to Clarisa, MN for a supper at a church.  Friends of the Winters, Gary & Greta, who will be neighbors of theirs in Texas came out to their place
afterwards and we all played Pegs & Jokers.  First time for their Gary & Greta (picture on top)  Doris & Lyle in picture to left.

We are going to breakfast in town this morning and then head towards Minneapolis where we hope to get an RV Park spot and go to the Minnesota State Fair.

Later, Lynn
